Getting Your Vehicle Ready For Winter
Here in the North East, folks are beginning to get their vehicles ready for the
harsh weather we usually get each winter. Here are some tips for getting your vehicle
ready to withstand "old man winter" (these focus on protecting the finish of the
vehicle, and related trim - you should also prepare the mechanical end of things. Check
your owner's manual for recommendations regarding things such as antifreeze, belts, hoses,
etc.).
- Clean the surface - Wash the vehicle thoroughly using a high
quality wash, like Race Glaze L.A.S. Wash. This highly concentrated wash will gently
remove surface contaminants, and also rinses very freely. It will easily remove road tar,
without stripping Race Glaze® Polish & Sealant.
- Protect the surface - Apply a durable protective coating, to maintain the shine, while
also protecting against the worst of winter hazards - road salt. Race Glaze®
Polish & Sealant will stand up to winter abuse - its unique blend of resins and
polymers form a strong, clear, protective barrier that will provide much better protection
than wax products, and will last longer than wax products. One coat will last on average
4-6 months - through the worst of winter abuse. Many people prefer Race Glaze®
Polish & Sealant over typical window cleaners, to clean their windows, and keep them
clean longer. This product will not wash off - it resists soap & water.
- Protect all vinyl and rubber trim - we recommend applying a coat of Race Glaze®
Trim & Leather Renewer to all exterior plastic trim, tires, and vinyl roof. It is also
a good idea to treat the rubber weatherstripping that seals all door/trunk/hatch openings.
This product helps prevent rubber and plastic from drying out, and actually helps to
restore dry rubber and plastic, by restoring elastomers and plasticizers.
- During winter months, wash your vehicle as often as possible, to remove road salt from
the surface.
