Tip:
How To Deal With Acid Rain Problems On Your Paint

These days there are many parts of the country (including the NorthEast, where we live), that are troubled with acid rain. Various industrial contaminants travel in the atmosphere, and end up falling to earth with the rain. This "acid rain" plays havoc with the finishes of our automobiles. Left unchecked, it can etch deeply into the paint, causing irreparable damage to the paint. In can actually destroy sections of the "clear coat" - top layer of paint, that provides the shine, and more importantly, the UV protection. Obviously the best way to avoid this type of damage, is to keep your vehicle out of acid rain - not always possible.

The next best approach is to make sure that the surface is adequately protected, and to get the acid off the surface as quickly as possible. Race GlazeŽ Polish & Sealant provides a very durable protective barrier, to isolate the paint surface from acid rain, and other surface contaminants. I like to think of this as a "renewable sacrificial barrier", that takes the abuse, instead of the paint taking the direct assault. I recommend using Race GlazeŽ L.A.S. Wash on a regular basis, to remove all surface contaminants, before they have a chance to damage the paint surface. If your paint already has damage from acid rain, you should also neutralize the surface with a solution of baking soda and water.

Mix a couple teaspoons of baking soda, in a pail of water, and wash the surface thoroughly. The baking soda will neutralize the acid - stop it from continuing to etch into the paint. Mild damage can be corrected with Race GlazeŽ Polish & Sealant - it may take a few applications, but you will see an improvement. You can obtain quicker results by using Race GlazeŽ Leveling Compound to hand rub the surface. This unique product is like using a compound and polish in 1 step, because of the way the "non-rigid" abrasives break down (get finer) during use. It is safe to use on clear coats, single stage paints, fiberglass, plexiglass, aluminum, stainless steel, and other hard non-porous surfaces. Follow this with a coat of Race GlazeŽ Polish & Sealant, for long term protection (4-6 months on average).
