ZDDPlus: After 70+ years of trouble-free, metal-metal engine protection, the E.P.A. is forcing ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl Dithio Phosphate = Zinc and Phosphorus) from domestic motor oil. If your engine was designed prior to the 1990s, your non-roller lifters require ZDDP in your motor oil to avoid premature deterioration. Don’t let your lifters run metal-to-metal. Keep ZDDP, via ZddPlus™, in your motor oil. Add the 4 fluid ounce contents of this ZddPlus™ bottle at every 4 to 5 quart oil change. One bottle of ZddPlus™ contains more ZDDP than two bottles of GM’s EOS, which is no longer manufactured. If you haven't kept up with what changes have been taking place in motor oils, you should be aware that a component that is very important to protecting older engines, is no longer present in oils currently available. For many years oils contained a combination of minerals called "ZDDP" (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate). The reason behind the removal, is that ZDDP adversely affects catalytic converters. The down side of removing ZDDP is that we lose critical protection for our engine bearings, and for our camshaft and lifter surfaces. I attended a seminar a few weeks ago, conducted by the man who developed ZDDPlus. He owns a number of collectible cars, and was very concerned that the elements critical to protecting his engines, had over time been removed from the motor oils. He did extensive testing (through a professional laboratory), on many motor oils, and oil additives, to determine if there was anything available that fit the bill. He discovered that there was not, and decided to develop the product, and make it available to the general public. One 4 oz bottle of ZDDPlus will treat 4-5 quarts of motor oil for 2,000 - 4,000 miles.
