Car Of The Month - April, 2002 - 1940 Chevy Coupe

The picture above was taken in 1977, in Coral Springs, Florida where we lived at the time. Our son Rick was 7 years old, and already crazy about cars. We had picked up this car in the Miami area for a very reasonable price - especially for the condition it it was in. The car was very solid - it had a rust free body, nice interior, good chrome, and the 283 c.i. Corvette engine ran great. When one of the prior owners had installed the small block and 3 speed transmission, they had also installed new fenders before painting the car a real nice shade of metallic brown. We sold this car after about a year, because we weren't driving it enough to justify keeping it. Unfortunately, as with many other cars I've owned, I soon regreted selling it, and still wish I had it back. I think the guy I sold it to put in a supercharged 350 Chevy engine. I inquired once about buying it back, but at the time he did not want to sell it. I wonder if its still around - perhaps still in South Florida ?  Like me, Rick is still interested in cars, especially Chevelles - he's owned a couple of 1970's vintage, and also two 1968's. I'm sure that some day he'll have another old car - until then, I guess he'll have to settle for taking my Buick Grand National for a ride every so often.  Right now his job as a paramedic and volunteer firefighter (since the age of 16) keep him pretty busy. Jackie and I are very proud of how he helps people in both of these roles.

Back in April of 1986, we started SHINE ENTERPRISES, as a part time business, with the hope/plan of it becoming a full time business when I retired form IBM. In 1992, IBM was looking to "down size", so I volunteered to take a "pre-retirement leave of absence", and pursue this business full time. Yes, its been a lot of work, but thanks to you our customers, the business continues to grow, and we are still enjoying it. We do still need help selling our products, and are actively recruiting Dealers and Distributors. Selling at car shows is an excellent way to begin, and then branch out into the wholesale end - thats how we did it. 

"Specials" mailing list problem - Many of our customers had volunteered to have their e-mail address included in a special mailing list. The purpose of this list is to notify customers of unadvertised specials, or new products - via a private e-mail (not a bulk e-mail note).  All  information we collect is kept in strict confidence - we do NOT give, lend, sell, or otherwise make available to anyone else, any customer information. The only exception to this, is that we do provide to United Parcel Service, the individual e-mail address for each order shipped. UPS then sends an e-mail with their tracking number, and anticipated delivery date. As a result of computer problems last month, this list got destroyed.
